Weekend Climbing in Arizona

In early November 2001, I abandoned the world of college scholars' dinner, Halloween parties and fireworks to climb in Arizona with The Dudes. The Main Dude was John Peterson -- one mad enough to organise a climbing trip where 5 people would have to fly to Arizona for the weekend, invite me, and persuade me to agree. As the report says, I don't hold it against him, though!

Most of the trip is described very well in Keith's report:
First Day, arriving
Second Day, Stronghold, and here is what John, Mike, Gary and myself did: Greedy Varmint
Third Day, Mt Lemmon
Fourth day, West Stronghold
All of the above include photos. Some of those were taken by me, Keith picked the best ones. The rest of my Arizona photos are elsewhere.

And to finish off the trip, John and myself did The Mace (5.9+), near Sedona, AZ. This photo of The Mace makes you realise why it's called so. The route is well described here. It has 3 main features: a hairy traverse, a hairy step, and some hairy cracks. That's all I knew. Oh, and the fact that John was going to drag me up it, whatever the weather. Other cool photos (and a short video clip) from The Mace are elsewhere.
